The River Remembers

What does a river remember?
A village before it had a name.
A house after everyone has left.
Footsteps fading along a mountain path.
The voices of the dead carried softly through the years.
The River Remembers moves through the landscapes of departure and return�Himalayan villages, terraced fields, ancestral homes, Kathmandu streets, distant horizons. These poems attend to what remains when places change and lives move on: the light in an old window, the silence of an empty room, a childhood road, a familiar voice remembered long after it has gone.
Here, landscape is never merely landscape. Mountains keep their silence. Rivers carry more than water. Houses hold the warmth of vanished lives. Memory becomes a geography of its own, mapping the distances between who we were, where we came from, and who we are still becoming.
These poems speak quietly of love and absence, migration and belonging, grief and renewal. They return again and again to the fragile things that outlast us�not monuments, but gestures; not possessions, but stories; not places themselves, but the feeling of having belonged to them.
